Fanzines are back!

Fanzines have always been an important part of the indiepop scene, but with the arrival of the internet they seemed to have disappeared. Or so I thought!

Several labels and individuals have been making traditional fanzines lately, and even though most information on labels and bands can be found online nowadays, you'll have to admit that holding a real paper magazine that you can take with you in trains, to the beach et cetera has a lot more charm.

That's what the people from Caramel Distro thought as well. Have a look around and be seduced by their growing collection of indiepop fanzines.

Summer Garage

It's been a long while since I posted some good old garage music, and what better way to make up for that than with The Masonics, a band consisting of garage legends only? They are, as they write on their Myspace:

...a winning combination of Milkshakes, Pop Rivets, Wildebeests, Kaisers, film editors, Micky & Ludellas, Vectors, Headcoats, commercial artists, Kravin "A"s, Auntie Vegetables and landscape gardeners.

A winning combination it is indeed. The Masonics are without any doubt one of the very best current authentic garage bands, with some truly addictive songs to show for it.

Back home

New York City, Princeton, Point Pleasant Beach, Niagara Falls, Philadelphia... and now back in Amsterdam. One blink of the eyes and it's over. First day back at work but I'm not quite here yet. I already miss my girlfriend and the nice weather, and I lack a lot of sleep.

Anyway, it's been good.

Undercover poplover, part 3

One of the nicer features of blogger is that you can plan posts for publicing at a later moment. This way it's possible that you're reading a post now that's pretending to be new and freshly written today, while in fact I wrote it before I took off to America.

So while I'm having a good time somewhere in or around New York City, you can enjoy a third part of my highly unoriginal series of cover-themed posts:
